Ever wanted to compete in a marathon but felt you were not quite up to it? Ekiden (駅伝) is a Japanese term which generally refers to a long-distance relay running race, typically conducted on roads. An Ekiden Relay is commonly held over the marathon distance of 42.195km with teams of runners completing legs of varying distance.

The course is set on a 2km circuit along War Memorial Drive, allowing you to cheer on your team mates in a great atmosphere!
TIMETABLE
The first leg of the Ekiden relay will start at 9.00am.
As we only have road closures in place for a limited time, the following timetable of start times has been developed so that everyone completes the distance on time. If your team is faster than the predicted start time, then the next leg runner may go immediately once tagged as in a normal relay race.

It is at the discretion of the team as to which participant runs which leg. Running order must be nominated at least 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the event.

TEAM ENTRIES
Pre-entry - teams are encouraged to download and complete the team entry form and submit their teams via email to events@athleticssa.com.au prior to the day
Entry on the day - closes 45 minutes before the event start time.
TEAM MAKEUP
Each team consist of 6 runners. These runners can be made up of any combination of males and females and age groups. (e.g. all males, all females, mixture of males and females).
For the purposes of Athletics SA club points scoring, teams must consist of at least 2 females. In the half marathon distance Athletics SA teams will only score points in the event that all runners are U18 athletes.
