2024 Fitzy's 5 Recap
Published Fri 30 Aug 2024
It was a fantastic day on Sunday, August 18th, for another running of the annual Fitzy's 5 Fun Run.
What has become known as one of Adelaide's premier fun run events saw participants take to the roads around the Uni Loop in North Adelaide.
Over 240 people turned up to take part, and a number of fast times and PBs were set by many of the runners in what were absolutely beautiful conditions.
This year we also welcomed home two of our South Australian Olympians: Izzi Batt-Doyle and Jess Stenson. Jess actually took part in the run, pacing one of her friends, and both she and Izzi spoke to the crowd for a while after the run was over, giving those who turned up the first chance to interact with the pair on their return from Paris.
Runners were also treated to complimentary cans of Red Bull energy drink, with the Red Bull Australia sampling team out and about to help runners recover after the race.
The first ever run held in David Fitzsimon's honour was back in 2010, and since then we have continued to see the event grow, and the support it gets every year is tremendous.
It was awesome to see so many members of the running community out to support such a great cause and to honour the legacy of one of Australia's greatest ever distance runners.
See you all out there again next year: and make sure to bring along your family and friends for what is sure to be another great event!

And don't forget the upcoming 2024 Adelaide Women's Run on September 8th, where Olympians Izzi Batt-Doyle, Jess Stenson and Olivia Sandery will be joined by Australian representative Caitlin Adams for a Q&A session after the run. It's a great chance to meet these legends, as well as enjoy a run around the track at the SA Athletics Stadium with other likeminded women. Register here.
